A beautiful melody, starting with a high note, followed by rhythmic long sway is what woke me up today at The Chirping Orchard. I knew, it was the priceless call of Blue Whistling Thrush – a bird that sings only at the break of dawn, and sometimes at dusk. I immediately woke up, grabbed my binoculars and bird book to spot this operatic singer. She was perched on an apple twig and singing continuously as if performing live.

His song is often described ‘human-like’. The melodious long whistle during springs, is usually sung to charm the mate. His body is glossy with violet to dark blue feather, and the beak is bright yellow.

Consider yourself lucky, if you get a chance to listen to his song!
